Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP's)

Canada has entered into bilateral agreements with many of the provinces to allow those provinces to nominate a limited number of persons to become permanent residents based on the province’s assessment of the nominee’s ability to contribute to the economic growth and development of that province.

The Provincial Nominee Class is designed to enable provinces to support the immigration of persons who have expressed an interest in settling in their provinces and who the province believes will be able to contribute to the economic development and prosperity of that province and Canada.

Each province has its own unique system (or categories) of immigration applications with their own selection-criteria and minimum eligibility guidelines.

Generally however, these applications fall under 4 categories:

a) employer-driven stream (i.e. foreign nationals with a job offer in Canada);

b) employee-driven stream (i.e. Business Class applicants interested and able in establishing a business venture in Canada or investing in one);

c) critical-occupations stream (i.e. foreign nationals with a certain employment profile in which there is an identifiable labour shortage in a given province), and

d) family-reunification stream. PLEASE NOTE THAT NOT ALL OF THE PROVINCES OFFER ALL OF THESE STREAMS OF IMMIGRATIO IN THEIR PNP SCHEME.
